5 signs you're ready to become a heels pole instructor

5 Signs you’re ready to become a Heels Pole Instructor (Even if you don’t think you are)

  • 27/05/2025

Let’s be honest – becoming a heels pole instructor sounds like a big deal (because it is), but you might be more ready than you think. Whether you’re just starting to feel the itch to teach or you’ve been secretly planning your first combo for months, this post is for you.

Here are 5 signs you’re more than ready to take the leap:

1. You catch yourself mentally cueing in class

You’re halfway through class and suddenly your brain says, “Oooh, I’d tell them to bend their knees here and lead from the hips.”
Congrats! You’ve entered the instructor mindset.

Even if you’re not teaching yet, thinking about how you’d guide others is a big clue that you’re ready to step into a leadership role.

2. You’re the go-to friend for technique questions

Whether it’s “how do you walk in heels without looking like a baby giraffe?” or “what’s the difference between a drag and a glide?” – people are already coming to you for advice. And the best part? You like helping.

Spoiler alert: that’s the foundation of being a great instructor.

3. You love the “why” as much as the “wow”

Of course you love a spicy hair flip and a floor melt that turns heads, but you’re also fascinated by the why behind the movement:

  • Why do we warm up this way?
  • Why do some students struggle with basework?
  • Why do heels change how we feel about our bodies?

Curiosity + passion = teaching potential.

4. You’re already sharing …even if you don’t realize it

Maybe you post your freestyles with tips in the caption. Maybe you help a classmate with their back arch. Maybe you just hype others up and encourage them to own it.

Guess what? That’s leadership energy. And it’s exactly what students need in a heels instructor.

5. The thought both excites you and scares you (in a good way)

Teaching heels feels like a “yes… but also HELP” kind of dream? That’s completely normal.

If you feel the pull and the nerves, it means you care, which makes you the kind of instructor we need more of: thoughtful, prepared and genuinely passionate.

Ready to level up?

If you’re nodding along to 3 or more of these signs, it might be time to stop waiting for permission and start getting trained. That’s where we come in 💅
